About

I’m The Leen. The nickname, short for Kathleen, was coined by my family when I was a child.

I’m mama to our very spirited two-year-old girl and wife of nearly 7 years to my artist/barista high school sweetheart.

Our family is full of seemingly contradictory elements that somehow work together: we’re Christians who practice gentle discipline and attachment parenting, we love artsy movies, and we adore good food, wine, and coffee, yet we swear too much, we love The Simpsons, and we definitely enjoy a little Annie’s Mac, In-N-Out, or frozen pizza now and then.

We’ve had a pretty eventful past few years, including two interstate moves, a period of unemployment, a miscarriage, a very puke-filled pregnancy, a long labor ending in an emergency c-section, a cardiac event that landed me in the ICU, a rollover accident on the Interstate on Christmas Eve, a layoff, and a new job. It’s been crazy! We keep wishing for boring, normal life, but drama seems to follow us for some reason. *sigh*

After growing up in Portland, OR and then living in Seattle, followed by Portland, Maine, and then Seattle again, we now live in San Francisco, where I stay home with our daughter and where my husband works in the specialty coffee industry.
